Codelantern ("we", "our", or "us") operates the FoodLens mobile application. This page informs you of our policies regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of personal data when you use our app.

Your privacy matters to us. FoodLens stores all personal data locally on your device. We do not maintain external databases of user information.

Information We Collect

FoodLens collects the following types of information:

• Profile Data: Name, age, gender, height, weight, activity level, dietary goals, and country. This data is stored locally on your device and is used to calculate personalized calorie and nutrition targets.
• Food Photos: Images you capture or select for nutritional analysis. These photos are sent to a third-party AI service for processing and are not stored on any external server after analysis.
• Meal & Nutrition Data: Food items, calorie counts, macronutrient values, and meal categorizations — including items added manually or edited by the user. All stored locally on your device.
• AI-Generated Advice: Nutritional advice generated based on your daily intake. Stored locally on your device.
• User-Submitted Text: When you use the feedback feature or the AI text correction feature, the text you enter is sent to a third-party AI service for processing. This text is not stored on any external server after processing is complete.

How We Use Your Information

• To analyze food images and provide nutritional information
• To calculate personalized daily calorie and macronutrient targets
• To generate AI-powered nutritional advice based on your dietary intake
• To recalculate nutritional values when you edit or manually add food items
• To correct text using AI when you use the feedback text correction feature
• To display statistics and progress tracking within the app
• To facilitate sending feedback emails through your device's email application

Data Storage & Security

• All personal profile data, meal history, and advice reports are stored locally on your device using SharedPreferences
• No personal data is transmitted to or stored on external servers (except food photos during analysis, food item data during editing/adding, and text during AI correction)
• All data sent to AI services is processed in real-time and is not retained after processing
• Clearing app data or uninstalling the app permanently removes all stored information
• We do not create user accounts or maintain any external user database

Third-Party Services

FoodLens uses the following third-party services:

• Google Gemini API (via OpenRouter): For food image recognition, nutritional analysis, food item editing and addition calculations, nutritional advice generation, and text correction. Data is sent for real-time processing and is not stored after processing is complete.
• Google Play Billing: For managing subscription purchases. Subscription data is handled by Google Play and subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
• Google Fonts: For typography rendering within the app.

Feedback & Email Communication

FoodLens provides an optional feedback feature that allows you to send us comments or suggestions. When you use this feature:

• Your feedback message is sent via your device's default email application
• FoodLens does not directly collect or store your email address or feedback content
• If you choose to use AI text correction for your feedback, your text is temporarily sent to the AI service for processing only
• The feedback email is addressed to foodlenspro@gmail.com

Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or share your personal data with any third parties for marketing or advertising purposes.

The following data may be shared with AI processing services solely for the purpose of providing app functionality:

• Food photos — for identifying food items and calculating nutritional values
• Food item names and portions — for recalculating nutritional values during editing or manual addition
• Daily nutrition summaries — for generating personalized dietary advice
• User-written text — for AI-assisted text correction in the feedback feature

No other personal data is shared externally.

Subscription & Payments

FoodLens offers optional Pro subscriptions managed through Google Play. All payment processing is handled by Google Play. We do not collect or store any payment information such as credit card numbers.

Children's Privacy

FoodLens is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.

Your Rights

Since all data is stored locally on your device, you have full control over your information:

• Access: View all your data within the app at any time
• Deletion: Delete individual food items, clear meal history, or clear all app data through device settings
• Portability: Your data exists only on your device

Advertisements

FoodLens does not display any advertisements. The app is ad-free.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
